Hawaii Chronicles - Day 4

We started the day with breakfast at Boots & Kimo's Homestyle Kitchen in Kailua. They are famous for their Macadamia Nut Pancakes. The sauce they put on their pancakes is the most DELICIOUS thing I have ever tasted. It is crack. Seriously. Doc & bestie ordered some egg omelets and I ordered the Velvet Pancakes - which was basically red velvet cake topped with the macadamia crack sauce! It was divine!

After fueling up we headed to North Shore to enjoy some sunshine and lay around on the beach. We set up shop at Puaena Point Beach. For some reason it was rather deserted and not a lot of people were there - not a problem for us - more privacy for us! The waves were intense but that didn't stop us from going in. We caught some rays while bestie read The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin out loud for us.

After the beach we drove over to Haleiwa to get some shaven ice from Matsumoto's Shaven Ice - another well known shaven ice joint. We walked around Haleiwa for a little bit and checked out some of the local shops. Luck was on our side and we ran into a Muslim Palestanian shop owner who gave us recommendations for a Halal restaurant as well as a Middle Eastern meat market and grocery in Honolulu. In addition to all this useful information he gave us a discount on the stuff we bought! He was a sweet guy who immigrated to the USA about twenty-ish years ago - first he was in NY for two years and then he moved to Hawaii. He has five kids and has been living in Hawaii for the past twenty years. He was extremely nice & friendly and we were so grateful for all the information he gave us! Honestly the people we have met in Hawaii have been super nice and extremely warm!

We decided to be domestic and stay in at the apartment and cook dinner. Doc made some yummy chicken, bestie made delicious potatoes, and I helped with whatever task they needed [I don't really know how to cook - I bake]. Dinner was prepared just in time for us to watch Shahs of Sunset.
