The National Building Museum in DC has a fun exhibition going on for the summer called - The BEACH. My friend Elyssa was visiting me last week from the mitten and we decided to take a field trip to the beach. The BEACH is an interactive architecture installation put on my Snarkitechture for the summer as part of the Summer Block Party series. Basically it is a giant playpen filled with over 750,000 clear plastic balls to simulate the ocean. It may be aimed toward kids however the place was filled with people ranging from infants, teenagers, parents, and grandparents. It actually turned out to be a tad of a workout - it's way harder to navigate through the plastic balls as an adult as opposed to when I was 5 and playing in the McDonald playhouse! However it was a blast and I highly recommend a trip to the National Building Museum to check the exhibition out. Separate tickets are required for the exhibition and you can purchase them online (here) to save some time waiting in line.
The hours are 10am-5pm as well as on Wednesday nights the museum has BEACH Late Nights which is open from 5pm-9pm - check it out!
Be sure to check out the exhibition that goes until September 7, 2015!
