Over Memorial Day weekend I drove to Ann Arbor with my mama for a quick trip. Although the trip was super short I was able to squeeze in some fun activities. I met up with my bestie who took me to a bunch of new foodie spots, visited the peony garden, and visited my fav childhood store! I'm always blown away with all the new places that pop up in A2 every time I'm back. I really need to go back more often!
As an ode to my childhood I visited the Dixboro General Store. I used to bike to the store in the summer to buy candy and a bottle of coke in the original glass bottle. It was such a big deal for me to be able to bike outside the neighborhood and go to the store all by myself to get my goodies. The store is exactly how I remember it and has so many Michigan home goodies to purchase. I bought a set of coasters and a ton of candy!
It was a short but sweet trip. I definitely miss Ann Arbor because it's home for me. I'm going to try my best to go back again this summer and try more new foodie spots!
Have a lovely day!
One of my favorite things to do in Ann Arbor at the start of summer is visit The Peony Garden at Nicholas Arboretum. There are hundreds of peonies to see in the garden and the peony fragrance is intoxicating. The garden is usually in bloom from Memorial Day to mid-June. I recommend visiting early morning or late evening around sunset!
I met up with my bestie from high school for a food adventure. She is a marketing coordinator at Zingerman's Food Services and knows all the best foodie spots! We started off with the most delicious cheese, olive, and jam tray at Zingerman's Deli. The pickled onion was AMAZING! Afterward we went across the street to Miss Kim for some delicious Korean food. I had the house citrus soda - highly recommend! For our mains we had the Fried Soft Tofu and Myulchijut Sautéed Vegetables. Both dishes were incredible!! For dessert we headed to Blank Slate Creamery and indulged ourselves in an ice cream flight. My absolutely favorite was the Lavender Lemon Honey ice cream - it just melts in your mouth!
