Summer Round Up - Part 6

Moving to a new city calls for playing tourist for the first couple of days! The best part of moving to Maryland is having the opportunity to explore, explore, and explore! Some of our Michigan friends flew out to Maryland for the weekend and we had the best excuse to tour the DC and Baltimore area!

Day 1 - DC

We started the day off at the United States Botanical Garden. Little parking fact - apparently on the weekends the parking spots in front of the US Botanical Garden are FREE. YES FREEEEEEEEEEEE. We parked our car there all day!

After the Botanical Garden we walked around the National Mall and headed over to the Smithsonian Museums.

We took a short stroll at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden. We grabbed some food from the food trucks nearby and enjoyed our lunch near the water fountain.

After lunch we went to National Museum of Natural History to see the Hope Diamond and all the fabulous jewels they had. I was in diamond envy! All the pieces were stunning.

Afterwards we walked to the National Museum of American History to see the exhibit of The First Ladies. If you are into fashion and want to get a close up look at the fabulous gowns I recommend going! The exhibition is wonderful!

After the museum we went to the White House.

For dinner we went to Shamshiry for Persian kabob and stuffed our faces!

For dessert we headed over to Serendipity 3 and were in chocolate heaven! I was determined to order and finish a Frozen Hot Chocolate all by myself. I did - and got a massive brain freeze.

Day 2 - Baltimore

The morning began with walking around the Inner Harbor and popping into the local shops. We found some interesting things as you can see below.

For lunch we drove out to House of Kabob for their lunch buffet  If you love Persian food I recommend you go! Their lunch buffet on the weekend is only $13.95 and their food is delicious!!

Later in the evening we took a Water Taxi around the harbor.

We got off at Fells Point and popped into MaggieMoo's for a delicious Banana Split Ice Cream.

Whether you live or are visiting the Maryland/DC/Virginia area there is definitely a ton of things to do!
