Light City Baltimore is back!! This amazing festival of light, music, and invocation beings March 31-April 8. The festival transforms Baltimore Inner Harbor to Harbor East with incredible light displays.
I had the chance to attend the press preview event for Light City last night and got a glimpse of all the amazing light displays! There are about 58 stops on the map and many local neighborhood light features as well. My personal favorites are:
OVO: is a multi-sensory art installation that involves water, music, and light. Insider tip, wear shoes you don't mind getting wet! There is a platform you can walk across to get to the "egg" structure and you definitely want some wellies to help you get across.
House of Cards: made of 128 light boxes in the form of playing cards. The cards light up and choreograph to music for an amazing display. I highly recommend a time lapse video at this display!
Drift: by artist Stephanie Imbeau this installation is covering three sailboats with umbrellas illuminated from underneath.
The festival is entirely free to the public and runs from Friday March 31 - Saturday April 8 from 7-11PM and open till midnight on Friday and Saturday. There will be a huge light city finale firework display on the last day of the festival Saturday April 8 around midnight. Checkout the festival map here and plan an awesome night exploring all the wonderful light displays around Baltimore!
